Dealing with Stress
The stresses of college can really wear you down and make life chaos if you don't learn how to control it. This sections offers some helpful way that you can deal with stress so that it does not get the best of you.
Stress is bad for your health and can really wear your immune system down. Pay attention to your stress levels at all time -- especially around finals!
Always remember that college is a temporary journey and it will be over before you know it.
- Take a power nap - taking a quick nap will help increase your energy and clear your mind. Set the alarm so that you sleep for 30 minutes because any longer may make you not want to get up!
- Shower - take a 10-15 minute shower to feel refreshed
- Hobbies - start a hobby to get your mind off of things
- Control your breathing - slowly inhale and exhale to release tension
- Get a massage - either schedule a massage or slowly rub your forehead and temples. Stress builds up in the neck and shoulders for many people
- Get up and move around - stretch or take a walk
- Play a video game for 30 minutes
- Listen to music and close your eyes
- Go to get something to eat like your favorite dinner or snack as a pick me up
- Talk to friends or family about your stress.. venting sometimes helps clear your mind
