Dealing with Professors

Throughout your college years you will come across many bad professors and a few really good professors that will leave a lasting impression on you for the rest of your life.

Those professors who take the time to care about what they are teaching and care about the students will serve as a role model and encourage students to strive to reach their goals.

It is a fact that we will all encounter people in life that we do not wish to deal with. Having bad professors will help you prepare for the working world because many bosses are not all fun and games.

You have two choices, you can either tough the class out or drop it. We encourage you to tough it out because in most cases students can not afford to drop ac course due to graduation dates, grants, and many other responsibilities. It addition the preparation will also prepare you for what life has in store for you.

Everyone is different and people will have different opinions on different professors. A good way to gauge each professor is to talk to students who have had classes with a professor before. When doing this make sure you survey at least five different students to get their feedback so that you will have a good understanding of everyone’s opinion to use in your evaluation.

Try not to be immature about having a professor that you do not like. You would be amazed at how news travels or who over hears you in the lobby so strive to be professional and express your dislike but do not resort to immature name calling.

Sometimes if you give the class some time you will adjust to the teaching style and it may not be as bad as you initially thought. If you feel comfortable you can always schedule a meeting with the professor and express your concern. If you do this just remember to be respectful and honest.
