Caffeine Effects - Health Effects of Caffeine

In today’s world of energy drinks and AM coffee, most people do not think twice about overloading themselves on caffeine. This is a common mistake made by everyone from students to working adults.

Students especially think that they can achieve their study goals by staying up all night with their coffee, soda or energy drinks to keep them fueled with energy but what they don’t realize is the affects it has on them.

Society does not treat caffeine as a drug but it really is an addicted substance! People do not realize that it has short term and long term affects on them.

Studies have shown that caffeine has an effect on a person for much longer than they realize. It can last in your system for over six hours causing you to be irritable and anxious.

Caffeine exaggerates that amount of stress that a person has. Students and working individuals have enough daily stress but what they do not realize is that caffeine exaggerates the level of stress that they carry with them and determines or enhances their reactions to situations.

By having stressful responses to situations only makes the situation grow worse. With all of the studying and assignment deadline who needs extra magnified stress?!? The average student thinks that caffeine will help them stay alert and have more endurance but it reality it hinders their success and makes them more prone to failure.

Ok, if that wasn’t enough to keep you from going to Starbucks, lets talk about long term health. Studies have shown that caffeine elevated your heart rate, pulse, blood pressure, and hormone levels. Woman who overdue the caffeine are especially are prone to decreased bone density.

In addition, it is addicting so when you go to quit the habit, most people go through caffeine withdraws which sucks their energy away and causes headaches. So if you plan on quitting, be sure to gradually stop.

We told you how it magnifies your stress level and of course this is another long term health factor. It will increase your risk of having a heart attack or stroke because it is a cardiovascular stimulant.

Students need to beware of all the forms of caffeine that are hidden in their daily life. Pay attention to how much coffee, soda, ice tea, and those energy drinks that promise you they contain vitamins. College is stressful enough without having to deal with extra anxiety and stress when studying.

Caffeine often makes a student feel frustrated which sets the stage for failure. Stay away from caffeine and opt for a healthy balanced diet and exercise with vitamins.

The next time you reach for that soda remember the short and long term affects that it has on your school work and body!
